Athletics Education and Concussion 

Athletic Physicals Information:

Required for all athletes prior to try-outs. Valid from May 1 of current year for school year. Forms available on VHSL site or in Main Office

Eastern Montgomery High School follows the rules and regulations set forth by Montgomery County Public Schools and the Virginia High School League. Rules, policies and forms are available from the VHSL site (vhsl) or from our Athletic Director. Our athletes appreciate community support and we encourage you to come support EMHS athletics. 

Students Are Reminded That You Are Not to Remain at School Unsupervised While Waiting for Evening Activities to Begin.

Kelley Sutphin, Athletic Director

Kelley Sutphin, is a Shawsville native and graduate from Shawsville High School. She received a degree in Health & PE, and Sports Medicine from Emory and Henry College and a Master’s degree in Health Promotion from Virginia Tech. She is married to her husband Brad and together they have three children, Mitch, Cam, and Lyla Jo. She is starting her 27th year with MCPS where she has served as a teacher and Curriculum Lead in grades K-12 in Health, Physical Education, Driver Ed, Family Life, and Sports Medicine. She has taught at multiple schools within the district and has served as a girls basketball coach, tennis coach, and athletic trainer. She is excited to begin serving in her new role at EMHS.

I am from Shawsville Va. I was in the graduating class of 2016 from EMHS. I attended Bluefield College (now Bluefield University) for undergraduate studies, and then went to Lynchburg College (now Lynchburg University) for my Master’s degree in Athletic Training. 

My favorite animal is a Sloth  

PS.. if you see me running/screaming outside, don’t laugh. A bee has came close to me and I am SCARED of them.
